Sublime Winter Soaking
I visited late morning recently and parked by the white gate at the start of the spur road. This is only open for a short period of time each morning to allow paying Waiotapu guests to visit Lady Knox Geyser. I walked 500m down the road and was surprised to find the start of the foot track to the pool blockaded by recently cut manuka. A path now begins opposite the ‘Slow ‘sign and goes around the felled trees. Don’t be tempted to take the path on the other side of the stream, which is steep and slippery. As always, take care for hot spots in this pool, especially near the waterfall. Despite recent rain, the pool was a pleasant 39C.
